Happy Mother's Day!

What a delightful day!  Not only did I have the pleasure of celebrating being a mom to three fabulous kids, today I was reminded of the value of TRUE friendship.  I was ecstatic to receive many Mother's Day greetings.  Thank you my sweet and dearest friends.  You know who you are.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind and encouraging words today.

Hands down, parenting is the toughest job I've ever held and on the flip side, definitely the most rewarding.  Just when I think I've got a handle on my role as a mom, yepper, you guessed it, another phase in childhood or teenage years.  I consider those phases an opportunity!  An opportunity for me as a mom to grow and learn, thanks kids!  Parenting definitely leaves little to the imagination.  I often joke that I've developed multiple personalities with which to better relate to each child.  I believe . . . that the way a child feels loved is based on your ability to relate to and understand them (hence my extra personalities).

To my fabulous trio, whom I love to the stars and back . . . for all those funny and crazy little quirks (they think) I have, consider them a gift.  I remind you . . . Mirror, mirror on the wall - you are your mother after all.

A few of my favorite Mother's Day inspired quotes:

A suburban mother's role is to deliver children obstetrically once, and by car forever after. ~Peter De Vries

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. ~ Proverb

Mother - that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries. ~T. DeWitt Talmage

Any mother could perform the jobs of several air traffic controllers with ease. ~Lisa Alther

Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ~Author Unknown

The phrase "working mother" is redundant. ~Jane Sellman

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva Jordan

Cheers to my Mother, Grandmother's, and ALL the Mother's I know - what better reward than the gift of children and the ability to watch your heart walk around outside your body.
